EVERY YEAR ON MARCH 17 the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the world observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green. St. Patrick’s Day is the day where everyone can claim to be a little bit Irish, and in North Idaho we like to celebrate our heritage in style!
Looking for some fun and frivolity to kick off the festivities? Start off the celebration with the traditional St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Coeur d’Alene on Saturday, March 11. The parade will begin at 4pm with a Resort Pub Crawl to follow at 4:30pm. For those 21 years of age and above who complete the five stops along the pub crawl, you will receive a free Pint o’ Gold Keep sake Glass. For more information, go towww.cdadowntown.com.
The following weekend, Sandpoint is the place to be as MickDuff’s Beer Hall hosts a St. Patrick’s day celebration on Friday, March 17 featuring not only great beer but also live music with Devon Wade. Located in downtown Sandpoint at 220 Cedar Street, the crowd is sure to be entertained by this independent country music artist whose music has always been about real life. With both originals and classic covers, there is no better place to be than celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at MickDuff’s and listening to great music.
If you want to take things a bit further than just digging in your closet to find something green, you can find a bit of Irish flare at All Things Irish in downtown Coeur d’Alene. The store carries all the Irish and Celtic products you could dream of to help start your holiday off right.
St. Patrick’s Day is your chance to get out and celebrate your heritage so be sure to come downtown and enjoy the many festivities that are offered. And remember—If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, you’re lucky enough!
