Bicycling in the Panhandle National Forest
Gold Hill
From Sandpoint take Hwy 95 south 2 miles to Bottle Bay Road; turn left and go 4.3 miles to the lower trailhead parking area located on the right.
Beaver Lake
Go north of Sandpoint to Naples, Id. Turn east on Trail Creek Road and go about 3 miles, turn right , go over a bridge, and go right. Follow the logging road for 2 miles, you will come to a gate, Park. and follow the logging road that goes to the left. Climb over the kelly hump and walk about 5 minutes, you will come to a small stream, take the trail to the right and hike 20 minutes to Beaver Lake.
Brush Lake
Directions to Brush Lake. Go 16 mile north of Bonners Ferry on Hwy 95 Turn right on Forest Service Rd. 1004. Go approx. 3 miles to Brush Lake. You can drive to the lake
Burton Peak
Go west of Bonners Ferry about 5 miles on County Rd. #18 and go 2 miles north of the bird refuge office. Turn left on Forest Service Rd.#633 and go approx. 2 miles to Forest Service Rd. #2411. Turn a sharp right and go 6 or 7 miles to trailhead.
Mount Casey
Located 5 miles off Pack River Road. Elevation of 6,706 ft. Hiking time is 3 hours one way. The road to trailhead is rough.
Lake Darling
Go east of Sandpoint on Hwy 200 for approximately 13 miles to Trestle Creek Rd or Forest Service Rd. #275. Go 12 miles to Lunch Peak trailhead #67. Go approximately 2 miles to trailhead 52. Turn right and go approx 2 miles to Lake Darling.
Fisher Peak
Located north of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Elevation of 7,580 ft. Trail is narrow and in poor shape. Hiking time is 4 hours one way.
Hall Mountain
Directions to Hall Mountain. Go 17 mile north of Bonners Ferry on Hwy 95 Turn left on Forest Service Rd. 272. Go approx. 11 miles to Hall Mountain Lookout. You can drive to the top. |

Harrison Lake
Take Hwy 95 to Samuels, Id about 7 miles north of Sandpoint. Turn west by the weight station and go up Pack River Rd to the end of the road, approx. 20 miles. Take Trail # 217 to Harrison Lake.
Lunch Peak
Go east of Sandpoint approximately 12 miles on Hwy 200. Turn left on Forest Service Rd. #275 and go approximately 13 miles to Lunch Peak. You can drive to the lookout.
Roman Nose Lake
Roman Nose Lake is located at the end of Snow Creek Road southwest of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. There is camping available at the first lake. You can also backpack into the upper lakes about 2 miles away from the first lake.
Scotchman Peak
Go east of Sandpoint on Hwy 200 to Clark Fork, Idaho. Turn left downtown Clark Fork onto Lightning Creek Road. Go approximately 1 mile and turn onto Forest Service Rd.#276. Go approximately 5 miles to trailhead.
