Toss in a Coin or Two and Help Make Other’s Wishes Come True

In the heart of downtown Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 18 one-of-a-kind sculptural fountains went on display at the Art Walk, Friday May 12, 2006. This community art project will line the streets of downtown Coeur d’Alene from May 12 - September 7, 2006. The display of fountains will be on Sherman Avenue stretching from 2nd - 5th streets, and one is located in the Mountain West Bank lobby on the corner of Ramsey and Kathleen.

“Fountains of Wishes” Community Art Project utilizes sculptural fountains as a fundraising vehicle for local non-profit organizations. Through generous sponsorships, artists created unique, one-of-a-kind, sculptural fountains measuring 5 sq. ft. at the base and up to 7 ft. high. Mediums range from metal, bronze and copper to painted ceramic, tiles, cement and granite rock. Artists, non-profits and sponsors will be stationed at each fountain during the Art Walk to further discuss their involvement in the project.

The fountains serve as a fundraising medium for 18 local non-profits in two ways: • Coins thrown into each fountain will be collected by the specific non-profits the fountain represents.

• The fountain auction held on September 9, 2006 where the non-profits will receive the net proceeds of sales from their particular fountain.

Take the “Walk of Wishes” and explore each fountain’s unique beauty. Toss in a coin or two - your wishes help make others’ wishes come true.

Each of these one-of-a-kind fountains will be auctioned off on September 9, 2006 from 3-7 p.m. at a private lakeside Italian Villa. Tickets for the event will go on sale in mid-summer with more information to be posted on the Web site www.fountainsofwishes.com

The project was created by MERGE - A Fundraising Organization, Inc. (MERGE) with the goal of helping non-profit organizations raise funds and awareness while increasing public appreciation for art. MERGE is a for-profit corporation that facilitates and/or assists organizations with fundraising events. MERGE stands for Merging Elements Required for Great Events. www.fountainsofwishes.com or 208-691-7797.
