Bonner County Fair and Rodeo

The first Bonner County Fair was held in Sandpoint in 1927, with 20 communities participating. The fair was held at the original fair grounds at War Memorial Park. The buildings were located in the vicinity of the Bonner County Historical Society & Museum. It was in 1971 that the Fair moved to its present location.

The Bonner County Fair is a time for fun but also a time for education. The fairground is filled with exhibits, contests, food booths and various activities for all ages.

The Home Economics Department presents awards in clothing, needlework, homespun yarn, and foods.  Awards are also given in the following areas:

One primary objective is to help rural youth - those who are involved in 4-H and other youth organizations. The Bonner County Fair provides a place to "show" their animals or products to compare them, to compete in the selling of them, and in the process, build character and prepare these same youngsters to become the adult leaders of tomorrow.

The Bonner County Fair is successful due to the volunteers, sponsors, merchants and government. Without these citizens in our community the Fairgrounds would not be the beautiful facility it is today. The Bonner County Fair Board and Fairgrounds staff appreciates all the help from everyone.
