Flying in Sandpoint, Idaho

Looking for information on flying into Sandpoint for a visit?  Unless you're in a chartered aircraft that can land on a 5500 ft runway, you'll need to fly into Spokane International Airport (GEG) in Washington.  Sandpoint is about an hour and a half drive from Spokane and you should be able to find rental cars at the airport.  From the airport the directions are simple!  Drive east on I-90 into Idaho. Flying into Sandpoint affords visitors a sense of the incredible vastness of this area. Of course Lake Pend Oreille is the centerpiece but the surrounding areas offer views out of the aircraft few on the ground can ever imagine. Flying along the Selkirk Crest toward Canada one will see one of the last undeveloped mountainscapes in Northern Idaho.

Numerous alpine lakes, streams and jagged outcroppings illustrate the outdoor wonders of the region. Flying over the patchwork farmlands of the Selle valley shows the diversity of the area landscapes. Having the opportunity to fly over Sandpoint is something everyone should experience if at all possible.

It is but a short 20 minute flight from Spokane to Sandpoint. Upon arrival you can obtain an rental car to come into town for shopping or grab a bite to eat.  If you want to get a birds eye view of the area there are also airplane tours of the region. Sandpoint from the air is truly a remarkable experience and one you will never, ever forget.
