Saying Goodbye

Family and friends of serial killer victim Melody Murfin bid her an emotional farewell.

Family and friends of serial killer victim Melody Murfin bid her an emotional farewell today.  Murfin was murdered by Robert Lee Yates, Jr., and buried in the backyard of the serial killer's South hill home.  Today her family and friends gathered at Spokane's United Methodist Church for a final goodbye.  At one point during the memorial, when one of Murfin's favorite songs was played, her mother ran out of the service, crying.  Afterword, Murfin's sister, Mona LaGasse, said she was relieved that her sister was finally put to rest.  "I've never been so ready for anything in my life.  It's time to put my sister to sleep... give her some rest... My mother, everybody, is just glad to have this over with.  It's been almost three weeks since we found her body, and it's been really crazy for our family."
