The annual Nutcracker performance kicks off later this evening, starring the Spokane Symphony, the Alberta Ballet, and some very special young dancers. News Four takes you to the Spokane Opera House for a sneek peek at the holiday classic. It's the familiar sound of Christmas on stage...the magical tale about a godfather's special Christmas gift, the Nutcracker. Artistic Director Mikko Nissenen is thrilled about opening night because this year, local stars will join the cast. About fifty, to be exact. Lindsey Witter is 14 and playing the part of Clara. "I'm nervous but at the same time I'm really excited cause I haven't danced with a professional dancer yet before."
Nissinen says local dancers makes the Nutcracker that much more special, and he promises a spectular performance. If you want to see the Nutcracker, keep in mind it will only be here this weekend. The first show is tonight at 7:30. Tomorrow, there are two shows at two o'clock and 7:30. The last performance is Sunday at 2pm in the Opera House.
