Cheney Battles to Keep Seahawks

This is the last year of the Seahawks contract to train at Eastern Washington University.
The Seattle Seahawks rolled into Cheney this weekend, and now efforts are underway to keep the team coming back. The Seahawks 3 year contract with Eastern Washington University expires at the end of training camp. Seahawk General Manager Mike Holmgren says he won't decide if the Seahawks are coming back to Cheney until after camp closes next month. But, it appears likely the Hawks will be back. Holmgren has long been a fan of the hot, sunny weather Seattle can't provide, and the facilities at Eastern are also up to par with just about any in the northwest. A big reason for that is the million dollars Seattle has paid in rent over the last three years, and the exposure they bring to this university.
That's why Eastern officials like Curt Huff are eager to present the Seahawks with an offer to keep them here a little longer. "We hoped to have that ready in the next couple weeks and really that's where it stands. We're looking forward to getting them here for five more years, and I think they're interested in coming here." Let's hope so.
