Avista Gets Permission To Raise Your Rates
By: Erich R. Ebel
8/31/2000
The increase goes into effect this Friday and will boost the monthly bill of an average homeowner by roughly 10 dollars and some change.
Some natural gas customers could suffer "sticker shock" when they get their next bill. State regulators approved a 29% natural gas rate increase for Avista. The increase goes into effect this Friday and will boost the monthly bill of an average homeowner by roughly 10 dollars and some change. A similar rate hike is planned in Idaho. These are known as "tracker increases"which adjust rates as wholesale natural gas prices rise and fall. Tracker increases do not increase or decrease company profits. Regardless of the rate hike, Avista customers still pay the lowest rates in the state.
